Marriage In Trouble? Who Can Help You?

Is your marriage in trouble? If so, do you know who you can approach for help to save your marriage? People who are facing marital problems can feel depress and this can be dangerous because serious depression can cause the victim to harbour suicidal thoughts. If you cannot find a solution in your own head, get external help from someone else. Help yourself and your loved ones before it’s too late!
I decided to pen my feeling down today because I was badly affected after reading a local news article that a desperate father killed his two young children, aged 3 and 5 years old, before jumping to his death from the 12th floor of the same building. Apparently his marriage was on the rocks and he could no longer face the world, thus he decided to take his children along with him. Should this have happened? Who could have saved him and his young children?
1. Friends
I would think that your friends are the first people who can help you. Many cannot accept the idea of going to their family members for assistance when they are facing marital problems. They do not want them to worry or get caught in-between. As such, friends are the best people who can give you some advice.
Of course you can turn to your close friends for some advice or just so to have someone to confide in. That will help because you will feel better if you do not have to bottle up everything in you.
However, preferably you should refer to someone who had just succeeded in overcoming a marital problem. Don’t leave out the option of seeking advice from other couples who might be more experience than you in solving “marriage in trouble” issues. You never know what they might have gone through in order to stay married for so many years! There is really no harm in listening to their advice and applying what works for you.
2. Books
I know you can’t talk to books but self help books do offer you solutions to help you save your marriage. This may be especially useful for those who are more reserved and cannot accept the idea of confiding in a friend or a professional about their marriage troubles. Look for a self help book that can provide you with step-by-step guidance on what you should do to save your marriage even when you know that your partner had already given up all hopes.
These books can be successful because most of them are written by people who have also gone through the rough patch like you or they might be written by a professional marriage counselor. There are many examples of such successful cases so why not give it a try?

3. Internet
You can search for practically anything and everything via the internet. In fact, that is how you found my article! Search for and read up on what others have to say about keeping their marriages. It is never too late to rekindle your love as long as you have tried. The internet is full of information on what you can do to relive that long-lost relationship.
If you need to talk to someone but feel shy about revealing too much about yourself, you can always ask questions at save marriage forums. There are many of such forums around and the best part is you do not have to reveal your real identity. You can also leave comments or questions on related blogs that you manage to find. If you find that the writer is writing with a personal touch and you feel that she may have the answer to your marriage problems, why not send her an email or leave a comment at the end of her article that you’ve read? You may be able to find a workable solution.
4. Marriage Counseling
I’ve put marriage counseling last not because I feel that this is the least important but because I feel that there is a stigma attached to the word ‘counselors’ in many societies. As such, many people do not feel comfortable in letting a stranger probe into their relationship. They feel shy in admitting to others that they have a problem which they cannot solve on their own.
Nevertheless, a marriage counselor is definitely someone whom you should approach for help if you have tried other means but nothing seems to help. If your spouse has thrown the towel in and you cannot solve things on your own, seeking professional help is your best remedy. Try to convince your spouse to make a last attempt to saving your marriage through the counselors. If both of you realize that your marriage is in trouble, usually that is when one party is demanding for a divorce, seeking help from the experts is one step you should take.
I have given you 4 suggestions on who you can turn to for help if your marriage is trouble so there must be one way which appeals to you. Just remember that your problem is not going to vanish if you do not take any action. Worse still, there may be more devastating consequences if nothing is done. Take the example of the news article I mentioned at the start of this article. If the father in the story had tried to seek professional help, or if his friends had sounded the alarm when they discovered that he was suicidal, the tragedy would not have happened.
